Lucila’s Restaurant Welcomes Cheryl Gaudet

We’re thrilled to welcome Mazatlan’s best Canadian ex-pat singer-songwriter, Cheryl Gaudet, to Lucila’s Restaurant – located inside Casa Lucila Hotel Boutique – for a weekly music series, beginning Friday, Nov. 11. We’ll host a tasting party on Monday, Nov. 7, where guests can enjoy light appetizers and wine during a meet-and-greet with Gaudet.

Originally from Nova Scotia on Canada's Atlantic Coast, Gaudet has both salt water and music running through her veins. A talented performer with a voice reminiscent of Carly Simon. Gaudet thrives holding an audience captive in an intimate setting such as Lucila’s. Hearing Gaudet perform will take you back to the days when James Taylor, Neil Young, Carol King and Bonnie Raitt ruled the music world.

A natural with the guitar and harmonica, Gaudet sets herself apart with her talent and enigmatic personality. A true music fanatic, she has been creating and performing for more than 35 years. Her national media debut in Canada was featured on CBC with a broadcast recording of ten original songs. Soon after her debut, in 1989, she founded Eaglewood Folk Festival, a completely wheelchair accessible wilderness retreat north of Toronto, and for four years she directed the festival and laid down the foundation for what continues to be one of Canada’s most beloved festivals.

In 2000, Cheryl returned to Nova Scotia to focus on songwriting, and she released two independent recordings: Green On Blue, produced by David Burton and CBC's Glenn Meisner, and South Shore Moon, released in 2006, and produced by Cheryl and Terry Pulliam. Both records received international airplay and were also released on numerous compilations.

She discovered a love for Mazatlan in 2009 while visiting friends, and she decided to extend her stay indefinitely. Falling in love with the warmth and beauty of our seaside city, Gaudet has since earned a devoted fan following. Every Friday at 6 p.m., Gaudet will take her residence at Lucila’s Restaurant, where she will showcase her own music along with covers of the greats. We’ll see you there!
