Photo Essay: My Mazatlan Home

Sophia Boccard

Nestled on the coast of Mexico with access to both the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean, Mazatlan was once one of the most important port city in Mexico as gold and silver shipments from Rosario and Copala regularly shipped out throughout the 1700's.

With an identity that fuses German and Italian style with that of the French and Spanish flair. Old Town Mazatlan has had it's fair share of renewals. There are some stark reminders of a once glorious city center only to have sporadically metamorphosed into a modernized district. We love our old homes. Our old colonial homes. These are the lasting remnants of the days gone by.

Here's our photo essay featuring only the colonial homes worthy of any recognition, in our opinion. With the vibrancy of colors slowly fading away, here's our attempt to bring it back to the surface.
