6 Things To Know Before You Visit Mazatlan

Sophia Boccard

know before you go to mazatlan

These days most people are really tracking where all their money goes and trying to figure out how to get the most fulfilling experiences on their trips. In an effort to help you plan your trip to Mazatlan, we wanted to share some things to consider before you make the trek to the Pearl of the Pacific.

1) When to Go:
Mazatlan sits on the Tropic of Cancer, which means that we get two seasons a year. An extremely hot summer with mild to moderate tropical storms takes place around July through parts of October. The rest of the year from November through June the temperature is generally mild and warm. However, it is important to note that during the months of January and February we’ve had temperature dip as low as 50ºF (10ºC) so make sure you’re prepared.

2) Getting There:
You can get to Mazatlan by plane, bus, car, or ferry. The easiest and fastest way to get to Mazatlan will be by plane. General Rafael Buelna International Airport is only a 25-minute drive to the Historic Center of town.

3) Getting Around:
Pulmonias – open-air taxis – are a staple to Mazatlan and dates back to 1965. These are the best and most enjoyable means of getting around town. If you need to head outside the city limits, a regular taxi will get you to the airport or even to a nearby town if you want to venture outside Mazatlan. Renting a car is also another easy option if you want to have more flexibility on your adventures.

4) Festivals:
There’s always a party in Mazatlan. It could be the middle of August, one of our hottest months, and we will figure out a reason to celebrate. If a particular holiday is more interesting for you, we’ve got a short list of some of our biggest events throughout the year.
