How To Embrace Bike Culture in Mazatlan

One of the best way to enjoy Mazatlan and discover everything it has to offer is by exploring the city via bike. Not only are you reducing your carbon footprint AND getting a work out, but you are also able to see the city in a different way. You’ll discover history, architecture, culture, food and much more while riding.

In an effort to help our friends at Baikas promote a healthy alternative to touring the city, we’d like to share two of their tours; Baikas will even deliver a bike to you at Casa Lucila Hotel Boutique!

Baikas’ City Bike Tour is a combination of history, architecture, food and all-around fun. Starting at the Baikas Station at Hotel Pelayo, located at the end of the boardwalk, you begin your ride along the promenade, stopping at the various statues and monuments along the way. Next, you will head into the Historic Center, where you can appreciate the beautiful mix of Spanish, French and German architecture styles. A visit to the cathedral is also on the agenda, as well as a side of raspado (flavored shaved ice) or an ice cream cup. Two must-see historic stops will be determined by the group, before pedaling back to the Baikas station, but not before stopping to remark at the cliff divers and hydrate with a cold coconut.

Baikas’ Sunset Tour is a little less historical, but much more colorful. You’ll begin at the end of the boardwalk by the Hotel Pelayo Baikas Station. As you start making your way through town alongside the beach on the promenade, you’ll notice the colors of the sky vibrantly changing as the sun starts setting. The ride features many locals walking and biking along the boardwalk, as this is the optimal time for exercising, socializing or simply just gazing into the horizon. You’ll learn insiders’ tips on the best swimming beaches and most famous surfing spots, and discover the meaning behind some of the unique monuments located throughout the promenade. Fall in love with Mazatlan the way the locals do, and you’ll find yourself longing for it to be your forever home.
